Description
Timber Beam to SHS Steel Column Simple Connection
Detailed structural CAD drawing for a Timber Beam to SHS Steel Column Simple Connection. This is a common structural detail for when designing for hybrid composite structures with both steel and timber members.
Connection is established with the use of a steel fin plate, welded to the SHS steel column and inserted into a slot cutout into the timber beam, using regular through bolts. Timber beam is spaced about 10mm away from the steel column to ensure flexibility and moment release at the joint. Simple connection.
