Description
Timber Beam to SHS Steel Column Moment Connection
Detailed structural CAD drawing for a Timber Beam to SHS Steel Column Moment Connection. This is a commonly used structural detail for when designing for hybrid composite structures with both steel and timber members.
Connection is established with the use of a steel casing box, 10mm thickness on all side plates and open on top, welded to the SHS steel column. Timber beam is then inserted into the steel support box and bolted in place using regular through bolts. Timber beam is spaced about 30mm away from the edge of the connection to allow flexibility for site dimensioning errors. Full support moment connection.
