Description
Reinforced Concrete Beam Direct Steel Column Concealed Support
This is a CAD dwg drawing detail for a Reinforced Concrete Beam Direct Steel Column Concealed Support. In this detail a regular concrete beam and slab are supported directly on top of a steel column ( HEB steel profile ) with a hidden ( concealed ) connection type.
Useful detail when designing for hybrid / composite structures, where for architectural aesthetic reasons the connection between the two members needs to be hidden.
Complete plate and anchor bolts connection is embedded into the concrete beam prior to casting. In this detail the beam reinforcement bars are bent to pass on top of the steel column connection plate and leave adequate minimum cover underneath. Alternatively, one can design for a smaller height beam, have all the bottom reinforcement bars at a higher level and account for minimum anti-crack reinforcement at the remaining large beam cover.
Full detailing of both steel member and connection as well as reinf. concrete beam reinforcement to accomodate all connection details. Both sides cross sections of the connection are designed.
