This is a CAD dwg drawing with a Reinforced Concrete Beam Depth Change Detail. In rare occasions the depth of a reinforced concrete beam might need to change without using a smooth tapering transition. Although it is not advised, due to architectural restrictions an engineer might face the challenge to do so.
This detail shows correct method of doing so with a small 45 degrees smooth transition to ensure continuity of forces within the beam itself and avoid sudden abrupt changes in the beams behaviour.
